1. If you leave TVs, videos or PC on standby, it’s still using electricity. Crying or Very sad
2. The food will cook quicker and you save more power if you will use a right size dish. Use microwave for defrosting food, it uses less electricity then oven.
3. Seals of you refrigerator should be tight enough to ensure no warm air is getting in.
4. While doing you laundry, make a full loads and use low temperature settings.
5. During summer and sunny weather hang your washed clothes outside instead of using the tumble dryer.
6. You may substitute most of kitchen electric appliances on manual tools.
7. Decorate your garden with solar lamps and water fountains, be green and stylish.
8. Dry you hair naturally, it doesn’t damage your hair and you’ll save some money on your new cut.
9. Wrap any radiators fitted to outside walls with aluminum foil that will reflect heat into the house. There are many special designed panels or ordinary kitchen foil will do too.
10. Use energy saving halogen light bulbs, and you won’t need to get onto the ladder that often and spend less both on electricity and bulb purchasing. Idea
11. Un-insulated walls loose up to 2/3 of heat, make home improvement and you will got a cozy and worm place. External insulation should only be done by license companies but you may use insulation fibre, beads and foam for inside cracks.
12. Install solar panels, and get a free energy from the sun that can be stored in accumulator or be a good source of energy heating.

I just wanted to add.

Alot of people are heading towards energy saving or cfl globes and yes, this can be a major energy saving. but they must be handled with care.

Most CFL globes have mercury in each joint thats what is used to bend them...
If you ever break a CFL globe, you should wet the broken glass immediately...
Then vent the area, get as much air flow as possible before carefully removing the broken glass and mess as best as possible.
Would also be recommended that you use a face mask of some sort during removing of glass and definately during any vacuum process (which should be only done as a last step).

Mercury can be quite dangerous in high doses and .04ml is dangerously high, always better to be safe rather than sorry. Very Happy

Every Fall, Canadians can be seen clambering around behind their furniture armed with clear plastic and hair-dryers. We cover our biggest windows with the plastic, and fuse it to the surrounding area with a hairdryer. It gives the world outside a strange, underwater appearance, but it keeps in the heat. The related Spring ritual involves the ripping down of the plastic and the opening of windows.
