Regardless of the current fashion for claiming to be allergic to things, medical knowledge has actually improved a lot regarding allergies, so part of the increase may also be that they are just being diagnosed better - about 50 years ago I was stung by a wasp and went into anaphylactic shock.
Predisposition to allergies does run in families.
I agree that all the unnecessary cleaning people do nowadays must be having some effect. Antibacterial soaps in schools, antibacterial wipes all over the house, they slow down our immune system respond to living bacteria our environment. |

Lesser microbes in the fields demand artificial fertilizers. Instead of making sure that enough microbial population, it is easier to introduce chemicals rather than natural manure. Thus thought the past few generations and spoilt the mother earth.
Now, thank to the health awareness and information explosion, natural organic edibles became popular and of course costlier.
Isn’t it ironical to boast that what is so natural, and remained simple for scores of centuries is *Latest* and *New trend*? Anyways, I am going to defend this Zero Budget producing method in these columns. Dialogues for and against are most welcome.
Here comes the detonator!
*One handful of rich earth from the wet garden thrown into the Zero-budget farm tank, can erase 200 lbs of chemicals from your purchase order list* |

Growing food organically reduces the amount of pollution, in the form of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, that enters the ground and streams surrounding a farm
Eating organically grown foods reduces the amount of toxins in the form of pesticides, fertilizing chemicals, and growth hormones that enter the body.
Buying organic food supports non industrial farmers who work towards a safer and purer farming system.
Protects the future by maintaining a healthy ecosystem devoid of chemicals that can alter the environment in a negative way causing problems with future growth.
Improve soil by allowing it to naturally replenish with organic fertilizers instead of unnatural soil enhancement that will eventually deplete and render soil useless. |

| It is true that eating organically is more expensive, but it is worth it. After all, even if our first attempts at going organic are a little unappetizing, at least we know what we are putting in our bodies. We can learn the fine art of organic cooking.By trying new spices and new ways of preparing food, we will maintain a strong interest in staying with the organic program. |
